Project Overview

Passport: A dish-first app for finding global foods near you

After years of traveling, I often crave specific dishes I discovered abroad, but couldn’t easily find them again at home.

Existing tools are:

  • Location-first (“restaurants near me”)
  • Too broad (“Thai food”)
  • Fragmented across apps (Google, Yelp, blogs)

People don’t crave cuisines. They crave specific dishes.

Solution

I designed a dish-first discovery app that helps users fulfill cravings in three ways:

  • Find it locally: nearby restaurants serving the dish
  • Order it online: via platforms like Goldbelly or Weee
  • Make it at home: recipes + ingredient guidance

One search with multiple ways to satisfy the craving.

UX & Growth
  • Dish-first search: Removes friction and aligns with real user intent
  • No dead ends: Every search returns options (local, delivery, or recipe)
  • Save & revisit: Builds a personal library of dishes that drives repeat use
  • High-intent SEO: Captures searches like “where to find kremepita near me”
Next Steps

The app is still a work in progress. While some screens are fully designed, others are in progress and not yet aligned with the final design system in Figma.

Currently, the app runs on a limited dataset. The next step is to expand its capabilities by integrating the Google Business Profile and Google Maps APIs for more robust, real-time results.

In the meantime, feel free to explore the app and try it out!
